Saffron Butter Garlic Bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf of French bread or Italian bread
  • 1 stick salted butter, softened
  • 1 pinch saffron threads, crushed with a mortar & pestle
  • 4 cloves garlic, grated or ground
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Infuse the Saffron:
    • In a small bowl, add the crushed saffron threads to 2 tablespoons of warm water. Let it steep for about 10 minutes until the water turns a deep yellow color.
  2. Prepare the Saffron Butter:
    • In a medium bowl, mix the softened butter, infused saffron water, and minced garlic.
  3. Prep the Bread:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the loaf of bread in half horizontally, then cut each half into 3 slices without cutting all the way through, so the loaf stays intact.
  4. Butter the Bread:
    • Spread the saffron butter mixture generously between the slices and over the top of the bread halves. Make sure each slice is well coated with the mixture.
  5. Bake:
    • Place the bread on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 5-10 minutes, or until the bread is crispy and golden brown on the edges.
  6. Garnish:
    • Remove the bread from the oven and sprinkle the freshly chopped parsley evenly over the top. 
  7. Serve:
    • Serve the saffron butter garlic bread warm, as a delicious side to your favorite meal or as an appetizing starter. Enjoy!
